2017 Grinstein Jewelry & Design Scholarship Competition

Grinstein Jewelry and Design is proud to announce the first annual Grinstein Jewelry Scholarship Competition for Oakland County high school students.

All high schools, public and private, with jewelry programs within Oakland County are eligible to participate. High School Junior and Senior students only.

Guidelines:

Three independent and esteemed jewelry professionals will judge the competition. Each student may enter one piece of wearable jewelry created within the past year. Pieces will be judged on design, creativity, and craftsmanship. The use of commercially made materials (such as chains or findings) is permissible, but is not encouraged.

Maximum size of display stand will be 11”H x 9"W x 7”D. Entries must be able to fit on this size stand or smaller.

The prizes:

The prizes for the top 3 winners are scholarships of $500, $250, and $100. There will also be 3 Honorable Mention awards. All entrants will receive a gemstone to use in making future jewelry.

Applications:

Applications (see bottom of page) must be completed and submitted online AND pieces dropped off at Grinstein Jewelry & Design, on or before Saturday noon April 15th, 2017.

ONLY ONE ENTRY PER STUDENT

Your piece of jewelry should have a small, blank label (like a price tag on string, not a sticker) tied to it and must be submitted in a one gallon size plastic zip bag. Please do not write on the zip bag, but enclose a slip of paper with your name on it. Please provide one printed photograph of your piece (do not write any information on the image front or back).

All requested materials must be provided for the application to be registered.  Late entries will not be accepted.

Other dates:

Prize-winners will be announced at an awards event, at Grinstein Jewelry and Design, with all entries on display. The event, open to the public, will take place on Thursday, April 20th from 6-8pm.  All winning entries will be displayed at Grinstein Jewelry and Design through Saturday, May 13, 2017.
